Allen-Bradley SLC 500 Controllers

The SLC 500 Controllers feature ladder-logic and structured-text programming, along with an advanced instruction set that includes file handling, sequencing, diagnostics, shift registers, immediate I/O, and program control instructions. Key specifications include:

  • Built-in RS-232/422/423 communication ports
  • DeviceNet and ControlNet I/O support on selected processors
  • Configurable on-board ports for Data Highway Plus™ (DH+) or Universal Remote I/O
  • Universal Remote I/O ports can be set up as either I/O scanner or adapter ports
  • Ethernet PLC-5® controllers with the Ethernet interface module (1785-ENET) for built-in web services
  • Backup options for enhanced fault tolerance using the ControlNet™ Hot Backup module or the PLC-5 Backup Communication module

The SLC 500 control platform is versatile for various applications. However, Rockwell Automation has announced the discontinuation of certain SLC 500 catalog numbers, recommending migration to the CompactLogix™ 5370 or 5380 control platforms.
